The Jockey Club Encourages Breeders to Submit Applications Before December

The Jockey Club reminds owners and breeders that they can avoid potential delays in receiving their Certificates of Foal Registration by submitting their applications before December.

“Traditionally, a vast number of applications begin to arrive in early December as the year-end deadline for late registration approaches,” explained Matt Iuliano, the vice president of registration services for The Jockey Club. “That deadline is followed immediately by the one-year deadline for registration of foals born in 2004. So we encourage those wishing to receive their certificates before year’s end, as well as those who have consigned unregistered foals to an upcoming auction, to avoid the rush and submit their registration applications within the next few weeks.”

Processing of applications can be expedited even further through use of Interactive RegistrationTM (IR). Available at no charge through http://www.registry.jockeyclub.com, IR enables owners and breeders to complete all the requirements for foal registration, except DNA typing for parentage verification, over the Internet. Use of IR eliminates several manual processing steps that can affect turnaround times.

Owners and breeders are also encouraged to consult the “About the Registry” section of The Jockey Club’s web site at http://www.jockeyclub.com for the most current rules concerning Thoroughbred registration available in the online version of the Principal Rules and Requirements of The American Stud Book. A Fee Schedule is also available.

Otherwise, completed applications should be mailed to The Jockey Club, 821 Corporate Drive, Lexington, KY 40503-2794.
