The Jockey Club Confirms New Round Table Date

The Jockey Club confirmed today that the annual Round Table Conference on Matters Pertaining to Racing will be held on Sunday, August 19, this year, one week later than usual.

“Between racing, the yearling sales and all the meetings scheduled during that second week of August, there’s a lot going on,” said Jockey Club chairman, Ogden Mills Phipps. “And we have been asked by the New York Racing Association to help everyone involved and move the Round Table one week later.”

In recent years, the Round Table has been the launch pad for a series of far-reaching industry initiatives, including the formation of Equibase Company, now the industry’s Official database for racing information and statistics; the McKinsey Report, still the benchmark for a national medication strategy; the National Economic Impact Study, first of its kind for the equine industry; the Thoroughbred Industry Alliance and the resultant National Thoroughbred Racing Association; and, most recently, equineline.com, an Internet-based service which promises to revolutionize the way the industry manages its equine affairs.

The 2001 Round Table Conference will return to the Sheraton Saratoga Springs Hotel and Conference Center.
