equibase.com Sets Triple Crown Traffic Record

Equibase Company, the Thoroughbred industry’s official database for racing information, hosted a record 878,418 visitors on equibase.com on the three days that comprised the 2007 Triple Crown, it was announced today. The number of total visitors increased 24 percent over the corresponding days in 2006 when the site served 710,389 visitors, and the number of total visitors has doubled over the past five years.

Site usage figures were punctuated by a single-day record of 316,079 visitors on Belmont Stakes day, when Rags to Riches defeated her six male challengers to become just the third filly, and the first since Tanya in 1905, to win the Belmont Stakes.

equibase.com continues to serve the pre- and post-race information needs of a record number of fans on these big-event days,” said Matt McCoy, Equibase’s manager of eBusiness operations and development. “This underscores the site’s importance in delivering accurate, up-to-the-minute information in support of the sport’s signature events, just as it does throughout the year.”

equibase.com provides a comprehensive array of racing information, including programs, entries and result charts, as well as a full line of products for handicappers of every skill level. The site is also home to Virtual Stable®, which provides e-mail notification of entry, result and workout information for horses than fans want to follow. Virtual Stable also offers seasonal race series notifications, a once-daily report of activity for contenders for the Triple Crown and the Breeders’ Cup World Championships.

Equibase Company is a partnership between The Jockey Club and the Thoroughbred Racing Associations of North America.
