John Barr and Dell Hancock Elected Jockey Club Stewards

Longtime owner-breeders John Barr and Dell Hancock have joined the Board of Stewards of The Jockey Club, filling the positions vacated by Sherwood C. Chillingworth and Donald R. Dizney at the expiration of their four-year terms of office.

Barr, a Member of The Jockey Club since 1999, owns Los Amigos Thoroughbred Farm in Temecula, Calif. and races his horses under the Oakcrest Stable colors. A semi-retired real estate developer, Barr is treasurer and past president of the California Thoroughbred Breeders Association and also serves on the Board of Directors of the Oak Tree Racing Association.

Hancock, a Member of The Jockey Club since 1995, is co-owner of Claiborne Farm in Paris, Ky. An accomplished freelance photographer, Hancock is vice chairman of the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation, Inc. and serves on the American Graded Stakes Committee. She has also been actively involved with the Kentucky Thoroughbred Association, Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association, the Kentucky Horse Park and other organizations through the years.

“We’re deeply grateful to Sherwood Chillingworth and Donald Dizney for their many contributions throughout their terms as Stewards,” said Ogden Mills Phipps, chairman of The Jockey Club. “We know that John Barr and Dell Hancock share that same sense of dedication.”
