Charity Luncheon and Golf Tournament Set for August 4 and August 16

With the 2016 Saratoga racing season underway, The Jockey Club Safety Net Foundation and the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation are poised to host two of their annual charity events next month in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

The Fashionable Fillies Luncheon, scheduled for Thursday, August 4, will benefit The Jockey Club Safety Net Foundation and Shelters of Saratoga.

The Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation’s 16th Annual Charity Golf Tournament is scheduled for Tuesday, August 16. Both events will be held at Saratoga National Golf Club.

The Jockey Club Safety Net Foundation provides financial relief and assistance to needy members of the Thoroughbred industry and their families, while Shelters of Saratoga provides individuals with safe shelters, supportive services, and sustainable strategies in the Greater Saratoga region.

The Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation is traditionally the nation’s leading source of equine research funding for projects that enhance the health and soundness of horses of all breeds.

“The Fashionable Fillies Luncheon brings together the women of Saratoga and all corners of the racing world for an enjoyable afternoon of shopping for two great causes,” said Nancy Kelly, executive director of The Jockey Club Safety Net Foundation. “We are very grateful to the members of our Honorary Committee for their generosity and to those who attend this event each year.”

The Fashionable Fillies Luncheon will feature a silent auction and a fashion show by Encounter Boutique and Christine A. Moore Millinery, as well as a beauty and wellness service provided by Complexions of Saratoga. Tickets to the event are $150 per person.

The golf tournament includes lunch, golf cart, green fees, on-course refreshments, cocktail reception, and awards dinner. There are also a variety of sponsorship opportunities available.

“Our charity golf tournament has been a popular event on the Saratoga calendar for more than a decade,” said Edward L. Bowen, president of the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation. “This outing provides the opportunity to play on a beautiful golf course while supporting critical equine research.”
