The Jockey Club Tour on FOX Brings World’s Richest Race to U.S. Audience

The Jockey Club Tour on FOX makes its first international stop of the year Saturday, March 29, with a live telecast of the world’s richest race, the $10 million Dubai World Cup from Meydan Racecourse.

The telecast will air from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. on FOX Sports 1. A channel locator for FOX Sports 1 is available at foxsports1.com.

“The international flavor, the huge purse and the unparalleled pageantry of the Dubai World Cup all combine to make this a unique event, and those who watch the telecast will get a true feel for the global nature and popularity of Thoroughbred racing,” said Jason Wilson, the vice president of business development for The Jockey Club, which is funding the series.

Simon Bray will be reporting from Dubai while Greg Wolf, Richard Migliore, Alyssa Ali and Andy Serling will provide analysis and commentary from the FOX Sports studio in Los Angeles.

The show will include segments on the lifestyle and racing scene in Dubai, the top international competitors in the race, an analysis of the race and a betting challenge among the on-air talent. There will also be features and commentary emanating from the live feed from Meydan.

Epsom Derby winner Ruler of the World (IRE) is the morning line favorite at odds of 9/2. The field of 16 horses includes two American-breds: Ron The Greek and Cat O’Mountain.

Since its inception in 1996, the Dubai World Cup has been won by American-based standouts such as Cigar, Silver Charm, Well Armed, Curlin and, in 2013, Animal Kingdom.

The partnership between the FOX Sports Media Group and The Jockey Club is a multi-year agreement that was announced in August 2013.

After the Dubai World Cup, The Jockey Club Tour on FOX series of races will continue with seven other telecasts that will feature several of North America’s most prestigious races for older horses.
