The Jockey Club Denies Stud Book Privileges to 12 People for Violations | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Jockey Club announced today that 12 people have been denied the privilege of registering foals with The Jockey Club effective January 1, 2025. The denials of privileges are pursuant to Rule 19 of the Principal Rules and Requirements of The American Stud Book. In relevant part, Rule 19(A)(4) reads: A. Any person or entity (collectively "Person") may be denied any or all of the privileges of The American Stud Book in the event: 4. There is a final determination by a court (whether civil, criminal, or administrative), an official tribunal or an official racing body that such Person: (d) killed, abandoned, mistreated, neglected or abused, or otherwise committed an act of cruelty to a horse; or (e) violated applicable racing authority statutes, Rules, or regulations relating to horses (i) on one or more occasions involving prohibited or restricted drugs, medications or substances that have been classified by the Association of Racing Commissioners International, Inc. (RCI) as class 1 or class 2 (whether or not so classified in the jurisdiction(s) that made the final determination) or (ii) on three or more occasions in any 365-day period involving prohibited or restricted drugs, medications, or substances in any RCI class (whether or not so designated or classified in the jurisdiction(s) making the final determination).
