Racing Regulatory Veterinarian Fellowship

The Jockey Club Racing Regulatory Veterinarian Fellowship was established to strengthen the racing regulatory veterinary field and encourage recent graduates to seek employment in the field. One licensed veterinarian employed as a racing regulatory veterinarian will be selected annually to receive up to $25,000 in veterinary school loan repayment.

To qualify for this Fellowship, an applicant must:
  • Be employed at least half-time as a racing regulatory veterinarian in the U.S., Canada, or Puerto Rico and have been employed at least half-time as a racing regulatory veterinarian for the past 2 years. A racing regulatory veterinarian is a licensed veterinarian who works for a government agency, racing commission, racetrack, or racing association to oversee the health and welfare of racehorses;
  • Be a graduate of a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program (or equivalent) from an accredited college of veterinary medicine within 7 years of the application date; and
  • Have outstanding qualified educational loan debt borrowed for educational costs related to the graduate education of the veterinarian.
The 2025 application will close Monday, July 7, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. EDT. The 2025 award winner will be announced in August. The 2026 application will be available in spring 2026.
