The Jockey Club Thoroughbred Incentive Program (T.I.P.) announced today that it will be holding the inaugural T.I.P. Championships on Sunday, September 10, 2017, in the Rolex Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park.

There will be a total of 12 divisions for Hunters, Jumpers, and English Pleasure. Each of the 12 divisions will offer prize money of at least $1,000. The championships will take place as part of the New Vocations Charity Thoroughbred Show, which is being held September 8-9.

In order to qualify for the championships, riders must participate in a show offering T.I.P. awards, classes or divisions in the applicable discipline between September 1, 2016 and July 31, 2017, or participate in the 2016 T.I.P. Performance Awards.  Riders must also submit a Declaration Form, which is available at the shows or at tjctip.com.

“Since its inception in 2011, the Thoroughbred Incentive Program has demonstrated the passion of equestrians for retired racehorses,” said Kristin Leshney, senior counsel for The Jockey Club and the administrator of T.I.P. “We are excited to be hosting a championship horse show next year in a world-renowned venue to reward these riders and their horses who have excelled in disciplines beyond racing.”

To be eligible for T.I.P. shows, a Thoroughbred is defined as any horse that has been registered with The Jockey Club or a foreign Thoroughbred stud book recognized by The Jockey Club.
