Tromba Named to Equibase Management Committee

Ray Tromba, vice president and general manager of Louisiana Downs, has been appointed by the Thoroughbred Racing Associations of North America (TRA) to serve on the Management Committee of Equibase Company LLC, it was announced today by Equibase Company Chairman Alan Marzelli.

Tromba fills the seat vacated upon the retirement of TRA representative John C. York II.

“John came on board in 1995 at what was a critical juncture in Equibase’s history,” said Marzelli. “At a time when Equibase was looking to diversify its product mix and leverage its technology and information for the industry’s benefit, John’s business acumen and unwavering support of Equibase helped keep us and the TRA on track to make great strides in these areas. Equibase, and the industry at large, are fortunate to have had the benefit of John’s services during this time.”

Tromba joined Louisiana Downs in 1987 as director of marketing and public relations and was named general manager in 1994. A graduate of the University of Nebraska, Tromba spent 3 ½ years as corporate marketing manager for Santa Anita prior to joining Louisiana Downs.

The Equibase Management Committee is comprised of 12 members with each of the Company’s two general partners appointing six representatives.

In addition to Tromba, the TRA representatives are Craig Fravel, Martin Jacobs, Bryan Krantz, Terry Meyocks, and Michael Weiss.

The Jockey Club representatives, in addition to Marzelli, are Sherwood C. Chillingworth, Steve Duncker, Nick Nicholson, Ogden Mills Phipps and Hans J. Stahl.
