Equibase Launches Virtual Stable™ 2004 Triple Crown Notification Service

Equibase Company LLC today announced the 2004 launch of the Virtual Stable™ Triple Crown notification service, which alerts users via a once-daily e-mail of workouts, entries and results for the top contenders for the VISA® Triple Crown. The service is available at no charge through www.ntra.com and www.equibase.com.

The Virtual Stable™ Triple Crown notification service was launched in 2002, as was a similar service for the Breeders’ Cup World Thoroughbred Championships. Approximately 50,000 fans received these “race series” notifications in 2003 to track the progress of leading contenders.

Included in the Triple Crown notifications are a list of upcoming televised races and links to additional information such as entries, charts and past performance programs as well as editorial content from the web sites of the host tracks of the Triple Crown races.

“The Virtual Stable race series notifications provide new and veteran fans alike with an easy way to follow the sport while raising awareness of our industry’s signature events,” said Rhonda Norby, marketing and communications manager for Equibase Company. “We are pleased that so many fans have found the service valuable as a means of familiarizing themselves with the contenders and following their preparations.”

The initial group of Triple Crown contenders included in the notifications is comprised of the 23 horses in the first pool of Churchill Downs’ Kentucky Derby Future Wager, which opened February 12th and closes on Sunday, February 15th. The list of contenders will be adjusted periodically to reflect the emergence of new hopefuls.

The Virtual Stable™ Triple Crown notification service was developed in conjunction with the National Thoroughbred Racing Association, Churchill Downs, Maryland Jockey Club and the New York Racing Association. Triple Crown notifications will conclude following the Belmont Stakes on June 5. Shortly thereafter, Virtual Stable™ Breeders’ Cup notifications will commence.

Equibase Company LLC is a partnership between The Jockey Club and the Thoroughbred Racing Associations of North America (TRA) and serves as the Thoroughbred industry’s Official database for racing information.
