Mangurian Again Tops 2000 Leading Breeders Lists

Harry T. Mangurian, Jr., with earnings of $10,757,845, heads the list of leading individual North American breeders in 2000 for the second consecutive year according to statistics released today by The Jockey Club Information Systems, Inc. (TJCIS). Mangurian bred the winners of 495 races from 3,189 starts and is followed by Adena Springs whose runners won 201 races from 946 starts and earned $9,929,737.

Mangurian and Adena Springs also top a second breeder list which includes partnerships. In heading this list for the second year in a row, Mangurian alone or in partnership bred the winners of 498 races from 3,204 starts in 2000, for earnings of $10,768,247. Adena Springs was not represented by any runners bred in partnership in 2000.

Completing the list of top ten individual breeders were Farnsworth Farms, $7,792,023 (388 wins/3,025 starts); Mr. and Mrs. John C. Mabee, $7,533,470 (221/1,456); Juddmonte Farms, $6,529,373 (60/303); John Franks, $5,832,624 (335/2,354); the late Allen E. Paulson, $4,643,546 (162/990); Sam-Son Farm, $4,329,332 (55/207); Brereton C. Jones, $4,317,329 (190/1,351); and Arthur I. Appleton, $4,313,309 (196/1,258).

Rounding out the list of top ten breeders including partnerships were Farnsworth Farms, $8,921,571 (no runners bred in partnership in 2000); Mr. and Mrs. John C. Mabee, $7,533,470 (no runners bred in partnership in 2000); William S. Farish, $6,747,200 (147/1,044); Juddmonte Farms, $6,538,393 (60/309); John Franks, $6,413,261 (373/2,623); Allen E. Paulson, $4,684,146 (163/996); Brereton C. Jones, $4,581,062 (212/1,492); and Vinery, $4,525,593 (237/1,710).
