Sword Dancer Invitational Highlights The Jockey Club Tour’s Latest Trip to Saratoga

The Jockey Club Tour on FOX makes its third visit of the summer to historic Saratoga Race Course this Sunday with coverage of the 40th running of the Sword Dancer Invitational and the 2nd running of the Alydar Stakes.

The Grade I Sword Dancer carries a purse of $500,000 and will be run at 1 1/2 miles on turf for 3-year-olds and up, while the Alydar carries a purse of $100,000 and will be run at 1 1/8 miles on dirt for 4-year-olds and up. The Sword Dancer has been won by champions such as Theatrical and John Henry.

The show will air from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. EDT on FOX Sports 1, FOX Deportes, and FOX Sports Go, and on-air duties will be handled by Greg Wolf, Richard Migliore, Andy Serling, Simon Bray, and Maggie Wolfendale.

The telecast will feature a tribute to NYRA announcer Tom Durkin, who will be retiring August 31 after calling races at NYRA racetracks for 24 years. It will also spotlight 2-year-old colts Jess’s Dream and Cozmic One, the first foals out of Horses of the Year Rachel Alexandra and Zenyatta, respectively. Both colts are currently in training at Saratoga Race Course.

“The Sword Dancer Invitational is one of the most prestigious turf races in the country, and it is yet another example of the top-class events that are featured as part of The Jockey Club Tour on FOX,” said Jason Wilson, president, TJC Media Ventures.

In conjunction with the broadcast, Racing 101’s Joe Kristufek will again be hosting a live fan TweetUP beginning at 2 p.m. ET. Fans are encouraged to join the discussion at the handle @ABRLive using the hashtag #TJCTour.
