The Jockey Club Tour on FOX Kicks Off Summer Schedule at Monmouth Park

The Jockey Club Tour on FOX makes its first visit to Monmouth Park in Oceanport, New Jersey, on Sunday, July 6, with live coverage of the $500,000 United Nations Stakes on FOX Sports 1 and FOX Sports GO (Digital) from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. EDT.

As a “Win And You’re In” race, the winner of the United Nations will be guaranteed an automatic berth in the Breeders’ Cup Turf at Santa Anita as part of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships. Among the champions who have won the United Nations are English Channel, Manila, and Sky Classic.

In addition to coverage of the United Nations, the Salvator Mile will be shown live from Monmouth and the Queen’s Plate will be simulcast live from Woodbine Racetrack. The feature race will be contested at 1 3/8 miles on the turf.

The telecast will showcase Monmouth Park’s recent capital improvements and its proximity to the Jersey Shore, an update on Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner California Chrome, and previews of the upcoming Del Mar and Saratoga meets.

There will also be a recap of the races from Belmont’s Stars and Stripes card held on Saturday, July 5, and a look back at the dominating performance of leading 3-year-old filly Untapable in the Mother Goose Stakes on June 28.

The on-air duties will be handled by Greg Wolf, Richard Migliore, Andy Serling, Simon Bray, and Alyssa Ali.

“With its rich racing history and its proximity to the Jersey Shore, Monmouth Park is a perfect spot to launch the summer races that make up The Jockey Club Tour on FOX,” said Jason Wilson, vice president, business development, The Jockey Club.

About Monmouth Park
Monmouth Park’s long and storied history dates back to July 30, 1870 when the track opened just 3 miles from Long Branch. The track was a result of the innovative ideas of New York businessman John F. Chamberlain, New Jersey Senate President Amos Robbins and Adams Express Company President John Hoey in an effort to increase summer trade for once bustling shore communities.

Their ploy worked, and Monmouth Park opened its inaugural five-day meet amid much national fanfare. Due to the high caliber of its racing, Monmouth Park achieved distinction as the “Newmarket of America” — a reference to the famed racecourse in England. In the following years the track moved to two other locations, but it has been known as Monmouth Park in its current location since 1946.

Today Monmouth Park remains an iconic summer racing destination on the Jersey Shore. Its biggest races include the Grade 1, $500,000 United Nations Stakes at 1 3/8 miles on the turf and the Grade 1, $1,000,000 Haskell Invitational at 1 1/8 miles for 3-year-olds.
